As the Ashville Mystery Club already knows, I was turned back in 2017. In my 5 and a half years as a vampire, I have attempted to better understand my condition as there is no known cure other than death. I’ll be compiling my findings so far in this thread, and before you go “But Biancia, wouldn’t this make it harder for you to feed?” I don’t need old wives tales to lull you into a false sense of security.
Part 1: Debunking Vampire Tropes
- Vampires do not need to be invited in
- I’m not sure who the hell thought this up but if you throw some rice down in front of me I won’t feel compelled to count how many grains there are
- “Being bitten by a vampire will turn you” I’m not a zombie and it’s generally a more involved process than that
Part 2: Vampire Tropes That Are True
- Vampires do need to drink blood to sustain themselves, I do not know why but I speculate this is due to our
- We are stronger, faster, and far more durable than you are
- Our senses are significantly superior as well
- Like I said, if I wanted to feed on you there’s not a thing you could do to stop me
Part 3: Inconclusive Data
- Hypnotic eyes: I’ve tried it but I’m fairly certain my test subject was bullshitting me
- Vampire Daywalking/”Do vampires burn in the sun?”: I have not seen any other vampires attempt this, nor do I intend to find out firsthand. However, I have found that an umbrella, hoodie, and generally lots of layers to protect myself from direct contact with sunlight allows me to still go out past sunrise
- “Can vampires cross running water?”: Maybe? Does a bridge count?
I feel like drawing in vampire hunters should be a bigger concern than losing out on a potential meal…
Addendum to requiring blood to feed on, a vampire does not need to kill their victim in order to feed. If they do, it’s due to a lack of regard for human life, greed, lack of self control, fear of leaving witnesses, or some combination therein. From my own experience, it’s far safer and more reliable to have one consistent meal to feed on in moderation than constantly hunting for your next meal in a feast and fast cycle like some caveman.
